Five Months!

It has been five months since we were blessed with this little bundle of joy, Giabella Schoen, and one year from when Jason and I found out we were expecting!  How our life has changed in one year.

Giabella loves bouncing in her jumper, chewing on her hands (or anything else she can get in her mouth), grabbing her toes, singing, yelling (which sometimes sounds like a cat meowing), swinging her toys around and going on walks.

Almost sitting

Getting all excited

Holding her toes

Yelling at the toys

5 months!

Same old, same old

This last week has been our standard days...sleep, eat and play.  Jason was home Sunday and Monday, so we got to go on a few family walks.  Other than that, not too much is new.

Walking...no hands

Giabella always seems to have the same look on her face

It was all fun and games, until the packers lost
Our roommate from the first half of last year, Breck, is back at Southern University so he moved in last weekend.  Giabella's first roommate!  We bought a bed for Breck's room when he moved out in July, so now we have an extra bed, and what better place to put it then the dinning room.

Yes...that is a bed in our "dinning room"

Sucking her thumb

Sporting the comb over hair-do

Just playin'

Playing is pretty much all we have been doing since we got back in Baton Rouge.  This past weekend I packed up Gbaby’s swing to make room for her new toys.  She spends her days jumping in her jumper, playing on her mat, snuggling with (chewing on) her stuffed animals and holding on to a few new toys.  We sing, dance and read stories.  The weather has been beautiful, so we have been going on walks.  And my least favorite…we have been working on taking better naps during the day.  For Giabella that means sleeping half the nap time and screaming for the other half.  We will be back on a schedule soon enough.

Sucking on her lip.  I told her to be careful or she might get chapped lips

Sucking/chewing on her hand, another favorite pastime

Taking a bath

Playing with her toys in her PJ bin
The past few days it has been a little cooler outside, so Giabella has been wearing her football leg warmers that she got from Jason's Aunt Sherry and Uncle Tom for Christmas.  They are even monogrammed.

Beinlich Family Christmas

This is how Giabella celebrated her first Christmas at the Beinlich's

On Christmas eve we flew to TN to celebrate with the Palermo side of the family...our first country Christmas.  We spent time with family and enjoyed a plethora of AMAZING food.  Giabella continued to change everyday, and one day we even got her to giggle.  Jason, Jess and I were singing and dancing with Gbell when she started to giggle.  She doesn't giggle all the time yet, but every once in awhile we catch her.

Toward the end of our stay in TN, Jason, Giabella and I took a trip to Atlanta to meet more of the Palermo family.

Back in TN we watched the Badger game and went to the surprisingly great Mexican restaurant in Livingston.

Once we got back to Baton Rouge, it was time for Giabella's 4 month doctors appointment.  Up until this point, she hasn't seemed to have any interest in rolling over.  When we put her on her stomach, she moves around a little bit but usually just lays there and sucks on her hand.  The doctor put her on her stomach to see how her motor skills were and within 30 seconds she rolled right over with ease.  I put her on her stomach a few more times yesterday afternoon and she rolled over again and again.  Even when she is on her back now she turns onto her side, almost rolling all the way over.  Looks like she just wanted to wait until we were at the doctor to show off her skills for the first time.
